Rain and Elephants, that’s a funny name for a travel blog, but I have my reasons. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but choosing a blog name can be difficult. I had tossed around a few ideas that I thought were awesome and unique, but when i went to check them out on Google, I found that there were blogs already using those names! Then I thought, “Well, great, everything I come up with is already being used, how will I ever come up with a good blog name?”. Then I remembered a tip that I read on another blog about creating a blog name. They recommended choosing 2 unrelated things that you like, and voila, your new blog name.

Ok, I know what you’re thinking, and, yes, I am one of those weirdos that likes the rain. I know it sounds cliche, but there is nothing more relaxing than curling up under a blanket with a good book or movie while it’s raining. Don’t get me wrong, I love sunshine days as well, but there’s a hidden beauty in rain that I think a lot of people overlook.

As for my love of elephants, anyone who knows me knows that my favorite animal is the elephant. They are gentle giants. Elephants have a special beauty in their personalities. They are a breed that truly understands community and being there for one another. In my travels, I have started collecting unique figurines of elephants; they make for great stories and memories.

Now, you’re probably wondering who I am. All you know so far is that 2 of my favorite things are rain and elephants. Well, I am a native of Kansas City and have lived here my whole life. I work as a computer programmer at a large company in the downtown area. When I’m not at work, I enjoy going to the gym, being crafty, geocaching, and traveling. I made a pact with myself last year that I would travel more, and I thought it’d be fun to share my adventures in a blog. I’ve always enjoyed reading other travel blogs and seeing pictures of others’ adventures, so I figured why not do that myself. I may be very introverted, but I love sharing stories of my travels, and I love hearing stories from others as well.

Now where do I want to go? Um….everywhere! Seriously though, my travel bucket list is endless. Every time I hear or learn of a new place, I want to go there. I love learning what life is like in other places, and getting lost, and seeing things from a locals perspective. But I also enjoy the touristy things as well!

So, enough talking about sharing adventures, let’s do it! I’d also love to hear from all of you. What’s on your travel bucket list? Where’s you favorite place that you’ve been to? Any great stories? Feel free to share!
